Akira Beard is an artist's artist. His life completely revolve around art including teaching younger generations of artists at the University of San Francisco and the elderly through the non-profit Art With Elders organisation. His work has mainly been exhibited locally around the bay area and is inspired by his "ideas, beliefs and values". His layered and multi-textured watercolour portraits are particularly loaded with social and political relevance through recognised historical and pop-cultural figures.
